This crispy gluten-free pastry with a juicy burger patty and melted cheese is the perfect shortcut when you’re craving a cheeseburger!
If you’re craving a cheeseburger in a jiffy, you can make these cheeseburger pastries that come together in just 20 minutes and are lower calories that a traditional burger and bun. The pastries are paired with a burger sauce and are absolutely delicious! These crispy pastries filled with a juicy patty and cheese are delicious, simple to make, and a great alternative to traditional puff pastries.
The pastry shell is made with rice paper, an East Asian pantry staple that is incredibly versatile and commonly used as the base for many savory and sweet dishes. This version is much lower in calories than traditional pastries, naturally gluten-free, and can be made in just minutes. The rice paper develops a flaky exterior with a slightly chewy interior that is reminiscent of phyllo dough. I personally think it’s a wonderful alternative to traditional pastries, especially for anyone who is strictly gluten-free or looking for a lower-calorie option.
These pastries are cooked in the air fryer, but they can also be baked in the oven, although that method takes longer. If you use the oven, you will want to place the pastries on parchment paper or a baking mat to prevent the pastries from sticking.

The pastry is the crispiest immediately out of the air fryer. I do not recommend storing the pastries to eat later.
