Nice to Meet you! My Name is Jamie

I am a Taiwanese American registered dietitian (allergy and immunology specialty), recipe developer, food photographer, and content creator. Eats With Jamie was created as an outlet to combine my training in art and dietetics, creating work that is both visually engaging and nutritionally informed. You can often find me making a mess in my kitchen or trying out new cuisines around town. Besides being a food enthusiast, I enjoy playing piano, dancing, journaling, traveling, and struggling with traditional vs simplified Chinese characters.

I Knew Who I Was From A Very Early Age

Kids often become great cooks when their parents aren’t—because someone has to make the good food! And that’s exactly what happened to me. Sorry mom! (Love you nonetheless). Taking matters into my own hands, I watched Martin Yan’s, Yan Can Cook, and helped prepare Taiwanese and Chinese dishes with my grandma. When my grandma returned to Taiwan, I watched Food Network (on top of Nickelodeon and Disney) after school and tell me why Bobby Flay always wins in Beat Bobby Flay? I dreamt of beating him one day or winning Chopped, despite being handed the most diabolical basket of ingredients.

At age 13, I started a website with original recipes and recipe videos for fun since I was cooking so frequently. In hindsight, I’m incredibly impressed with how I knew how to build such a user-friendly and aesthetically-pleasing website at such a young age. Maybe I should’ve become a graphic designer. Instead of clothes and typical teenager items, I would ask my parents for kitchen equipment like a stand mixer, high-speed blender, or chef knives. Culinary school and food blogging were on my mind, and although I didn’t end up attending culinary school, 10+ years later, here I am back to food blogging – something I knew I’ve always wanted to do!

What You’ll Find on Eats With Jamie

You can expect to find a variety of recipes, many of which are Asian-inspired, food-allergy friendly, or quick single-serve meals. Because I like experimenting in the kitchen, you will find fusion cuisines or non-traditional recipes, which is one of the best aspects of cooking! Most recipes are accompanied by a recipe video to help visualize the cooking instructions easier. In addition to food content, you will find travel tips, guides, and stories from my travels around the world.
