Enjoy this iconic and popular Korean street food with a spicy twist!

If you’re familiar with Korean cuisine, you most likely know of tteokbokki, Korea’s beloved spicy rice cake dish, commonly featured in Korean dramas and movies. The rice cakes are chewy, resembling Italian gnocchi, and simmered in a slightly spicy and sweet sauce, making it a tasty and playful dish. The dish is easily customizable and traditional toppings include fish cakes, boiled eggs, and cheese. Today, I’m bringing this classic Korean dish into your kitchen and giving it a spicy and cheesy addition!

This tteokbokki features hot sauce from Samyang’s Buldak ramen, which is the notorious ramen featured in the Fire noodles challenge, and as the name hints, the sauce is blazin’ hot. Whenever I eat the ramen, I only use about 1/6th of the packet and save the rest of the sauce for other dishes such as this pasta or tteokbokki. Due to high demand, the company now sells bottles of the hot sauce, so feel free to use that or sauce from the ramen.
